Over these three days, his field trial performance was so unique that he gathered one reserve CACT and two CACTs.
He even improved on the third day, was perfectly steady when the pointers worked infront of and between the line, and picked up a pheasant from a 200 meter distance with just one single command. This was absolutely brilliant!
Kansas is doing his best to follow in his father's footsteps: on October 06 he was awarded his third excellent, on October 07 he unfortunately received an eliminé (which I was aware of right upon seeing the scene: neverending reeds, which we never trained before, so that he couldn't find the waterfowl), and on October 08 he gathered a fifth très bon. I am deeply proud on the little one, who was working very concentrated in the line, was not at all irritated by the flushing dogs and remained quiet and relaxed during the walk up at heel. It was a pity that we lost the almost sure excellent on the last bird, that flew so low that neither Kansas nor I did see the fall. With the sun in my back I failed in directing Kansas to the area, since he, looking into the sun, was not aware of my place among the group. So I called him in and we returned home deeply satisfied with our très bon! For his very young age and his little hunting experience he really showed his born hunting abilities and that he is indeed a very solid field trial pedigree dog, captivating with his highly biddable nature. |
