Cynological curriculum vitae
My contact to dogs began as an infant. “Bärbel”, a trained guard dog kept a close watch on me in my pram. German shepherds accompanied me throughout my youth and, in fact, my first own dog was also an Alsatian. At the beginning of the 90’s, however, I discovered the retrievers.
People who have ever seen this breed during a hunt in their genuine assignment will understand my love and passion for it. The golden retriever appeals to me the most. Personally I give preference to the genuine English working type.
Because I am a huntswoman myself, I primarily appoint my golden retrievers for hunting. They participate at field-trials (retrieving) which complies with the old English way to work them. Although the German ground game hunts and hunting trials of the JGHV (German organization for gundogs) differ a lot from the classical English manner of work, my dogs show top performances here, too.
During the hunting break season we compete in sporting contests (working tests) in Germany and abroad where my dogs have also shown themselves to be very successful. For instance we participated and won the IWT as a team in 2005 and made the 3rd place in 2006. The “German Cup” which is the German championship for retrieving dogs, was also won by our team.
It’s a lot of fun to enjoy the work with the dogs, together with friends, and it’s a good way to keep up the performance standard of my dogs during the non-hunting season.
At the moment our pack consists of four golden retrievers of which the youngest one is “home-grown”.
